Autumn Exhibition · Susanna Bauer · Michele Landel · Hannah Schmider
A fragile leaf, held together and transformed through delicate crochet. Flowers from Michele Landel’s garden, their images remaining on reclaimed bed linens — traces of a moment now past. Figurative wooden sculptures by Hannah Schmider, whose finely carved faces and visible tool marks give them distinct personalities. In her "Kompagnons," humans and animals meet. The figures explore trust and care, asking what we seek and recognize in one another. They combine vulnerability and quiet strength with humor that makes us smile.
The exhibition brings together three women artists with distinctive artistic languages developed over many years. Their works connect nature and everyday life with personal memories and, in Schmider’s work, the relationships between humans and animals.
The artists begin with what is already there. They attend to the structure of a leaf, the traces in fabric, and the particular qualities of wood. From these, they create something new. Preserving and transforming go hand in hand in their work.
Their individual approaches resonate with a growing interest in materials and craft processes in contemporary art. They show how closely thinking and making are connected. Every crochet stitch, every seam, and every cut is a decision that shapes the work’s expression. The delicacy of the works rests on experience, attention, and skilled craftsmanship.
“What Connects Us” draws attention to these relationships. The works give them different forms and leave room for individual observations. Le Salon Vert invites visitors to look closely and begin a conversation.
In March 2027, Le Salon Vert will present a solo exhibition of new works by Hannah Schmider.
