Amélie Patry’s ceramic practice is deeply rooted in the landscapes of the Loire Valley. Originally from this region, the artist develops a body of work closely connected to the soils she traverses. During her walks, she collects earth, minerals, and plant matter that later become part of her ceramic pieces. Her practice unfolds through a continuous dialogue with material and gesture, where excavation, movement, and shaping become part of the same process.
In the kiln, the collected materials are transformed through heat and time. The works reveal irregular surfaces and layered textures that seem to retain traces of the landscapes from which they originate. Some forms evoke mineral formations or fossil-like fragments, as if memories of ancient terrains were embedded within the clay itself.
Between walking, collecting, and shaping, Amélie Patry’s practice reflects a slow and attentive engagement with the transformations of living and mineral matter. Ceramics become a discreet language, connecting body, landscape, and time within a shared continuity.
