Born in 1977 in Chile, Francisco Sepulveda now lives and works in France. He was trained at the Santiago School of Fine Arts where he studied painting, drawing, and engraving. He especially focused on this last technique in Wilfredo Lam’s studio. The narrative, playful and mystical dimension of his figurative works, with their bold, colored flat planes, illustrate his roots, drawing from South American art and esotericism. Beyond this, his works resound with the artistic-religious influences of other traditional cultures – for example, the pointillist aboriginal “dreamtime” paintings – that he has discovered on his extensive travels throughout the world.
